President Terry Heck brought our meeting to order at 12:30 pm and led us in reciting the Four-Way Test followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Terry thanked the following members for volunteering: Greeter Steven LaPointe, Scribe Lee Proimos, AV Dave Brooks, Front Desk Mark Alberts and Joel Doss, Sgt. at Arms Joel Doss, Photographer Mike Fuqua and Book Presenter Cheryl Roop.

Greeter Steven La Pointe welcomed visiting Rotarians and guests. Dianne Crawford, District Governor (District 5320) was among the visiting Rotarians.

Jim Sommers led the club in the "Welcome" song.

Past President Alan Turner presented the updated Constitution and Bylaws.
Alan explained the Constitution updates are being proposed so our Club's Constitution will mirror the Rotary International Constitution rules. Our amended Constitution was created by adding our Club Name and Address to the current Rotary International Constitution wording. A motion was made and approved by attending members in favor of the Constitution update to be effective October 1, 2024.

Alan then discussed the Bylaw changes for our Club. A committee of Gary Saks, Alex Robertson, Charley Crew and Alan Turner reviewed the existing Bylaws and tuned them to reflect how the Club works based on historical precedents and to reflect Rotary best practices. The proposed changes have been circulated to all members and they have been given several weeks to provide their feedback. A motion was made and approved by attending members in favor of the Bylaw changes to be effective October 1, 2024.

President Heck introduced our guest speaker, Dianne Crawford who is the Governor of our District (#5340).
He provided a brief overview about Dianne's career involving 25 years as a Director of Sales in the telecommunications industry to now being a Sales Management Consultant. Dianne was previously an Assistant Governor and she has been very active in the SE San Diego Club.

District 5340 pins were handed out.
Dianne thanked our Club for supporting Rotary programs and for all that the Club does.
Dianne discussed being from the French side of St. Martin. Her parents made a lasting impression, especially her mother, by being actively engaged in their community.
Her father was a Police Chief who helped young men become productive community members. Her mother stressed education and worked 2-3 jobs to help support the family. When her mother returned to St. Martin after 25 years living in the U.S., she threw herself into public service achieving such results as founding a Lions Club and establishing a Woman’s Senior Center, soccer fields and a drum & bugle corps. Her achievements were so significant that she was granted the National Order of Merit from the French President. Dianne mentioned the “Power of One” and the “Magic of One” in talking about her mother’s achievements. Clearly, Dianne was motivated in Rotary service by the examples set by her parents. To achieve within Rotary, Dianne has developed an Action Plan. The key elements are Impact, Reach, Engagement and Adaptability. She stressed that Rotary can never have enough members, and she discussed the key elements of her membership plan which involve an attract & retain approach. With the Rotary Foundation being important for grants and the many programs supported by Rotary, Dianne highlighted the top Charity Navigator rating earned by the Foundation. A key focus of Rotary is “End Polio Now.” Dianne then proceeded to outline the District’s 2024-25 Plan with five key elements – Community Engagement, Youth Empowerment, Global Outreach, Membership Growth & Retention and Innovation & Adaptability. She finished her presentation by listing upcoming events and mentioning the Calgary Convention in 2025.

Cheryl Roop presented speaker Dianne Crawford with a book to sign, which will be donated to the Bernardo Heights Middle School library.

Diane Remick received her 7th Paul Harris award.
A significant achievement and based upon generous contributions to the Paul Harris fund.
Bob Vaughn held a brief, but successful, drive for Happy Bucks with donating members touching upon their reasons for giving.
