October 29th Rotary Meeting notes
President Alex, after leading everyone in reciting the Four Way Test, thanked the volunteers for their service. Maguy Feghali led us in the Pledge and shared the worrisome news that her brother has contracted covid-19. Dave King gave the Motivational Message. Other volunteers included Zoom set up by Mike Fuqua, John O’Neill as Scribe and Bill Angus as publisher.
Arilla St. Laurent gave us a Family of Rotary update on the success of Gary Saks recent surgery. Arilla as Associate Finemaster and Finemaster John O’Neill teamed up to collect more than $1000 from our generous members.
Our speaker was Steve South, CEO of Edco Sanitation and new neighbor of our own Jim Hyldahl. The company was founded in 1967 in LA, SoCal and San Diego. They process 3mm tons of recyclables per year filling 50 containers per day. The average employee has worked at Edco for 15.5 years, a testament to their positive work environment. The company provides dumpsters and transportation to our cleanup teams every year at no charge.
Announcements started with Shirley Napierala, who encouraged everyone to support the upcoming Adopt A Family holiday fundraiser. Others included Mike Fuqua hyping the October 31st End Polio Now skydive headed by Don Glover, a veteran of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.
The next meeting date will be this coming Thursday 11/5at 11:00am. Plan to sign on by 10:40 and chat with other members.
