After President Jim Reid called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone, we all recited the 4-Way Test. Thanks were expressed to today’s meeting volunteers: Joel Doss and Mark Alberts (front desk); Bill Brehm (photography and room setup-with Joel), Dave Fitter (last minute sub as Greeter), Toby Westbrook (last minute sub for Inspirational Message), Barb Alberts (Scribe) and Dave Brooks (audio and visuals).

Dave Fitter helped us recognize our guests and welcome them with our song lead by Joel Doss. President Jim led us in the Pledge. Toby Westbrook inspired us with the history and impact of the Australian “walk-about” starting hundreds of years ago. Still prevalent in that country and in other forms around the world, today, Toby suggested Rotary Clubs recognize such youth self-discovery travel and consider how we might support them.

We were happy to have back Fine Mistress and Happy Bucks leader, Athenea, who collected some good fines for light-hearted non-compliance and blue shoes (!) and some good happy statements and buck$.

  • See’s Candy sales to benefit our HS Scholarships is about to begin-Cathy Glover will have information out shortly

President Jim introduced guest speaker, Dr. Jennifer Kitelinger, Music Director, and student pianist Jon Sugiarto of Del Norte High School. Dr. Kitelinger shared an interesting history of the impressive growth of the outstanding music program at Del Norte HS, the newest of three HS in our area. Jon inspired and entertained us with his great talent as a pianist and composer as well as his passion for the school’s music programming and learning new instruments.
