President Doug called the meeting to order and we all recited the Four Way Test to start our day. Our pledge was led by Past President and Asst. Gov., Don Glover. Jon Harris gave the inspirational message and John Mullin, our greeter, introduced our guests. Doug also thanked Sonny Googins for her excellent minutes for last weeks meeting, Joel, Diane Remick and Jim Sommer at the front desk, Set Up Crew, Jim Reid and Dave Brooks, James Kasper, photographer and John O'Neill our meeting organizer and Fine Master.

Thanks to the generosity of our club last week, the Del Norte High Magazine, The Featheralist Magazine will publish its Senior Edition after receiving almost $800 in donations.
Thirty two of us attended an outstanding LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS TGIX outing this past Wed. thanks to the terrific organization by Sandie Dewane. Most of us were able to stop by DZ Akins for a fabulous lunch before heading home. Vern is still collecting socks and underwear for another couple of weeks for the Stand Down Day for the homeless. Please bring your donations to the club meeting.

As a thank you to all of our club members, Toby announced that he and Ann will be hosting the next TGIX on June 15th from 5:30 to 8:00 at their home. It will be catered by owner/chef of Floating Lotus Catering and will provide a wonderful selection of modern Thai food so it's important that everyone RSVP's to Toby asap. Salads and desserts are welcome. As always, it will by a BYOB event. Ice and plastic cups will be provided.
Don Glover asked for volunteers for the 4th of July to serve lunch, set up and take down of tables and chairs, help with the parade and help out at the fireworks that evening. Please let him know where you can help. He also has 5 tickets left for the Padres on July 27th, Sun. (day game) making a grand total of 60 people. Thank you Don for arranging our social lives! You're a great Rotarian!

Thanks went out to Kathleen for her many years of serving as scribe. She did a wonderful job. Now we need to fill her shoes and could use another one of two volunteers. We usually scribe about once every 2 months. Please contact John O. if you can volunteer. Ron Hunt was the high bidder for the lovely bouquet of flowers donated by "Branches", the florist at The Bernardo Winery. Please think of them when ordering flowers as they have been very supportive of our club.

Doug presented two Service Above Self Awards today. The first was given to Troy for giving several years of advice and long and short term direction to both the Club and Foundation. Gary Saks was honored for being Dougs' V.P. and his years of heading up the scholarship committee. It's a very challenging job but a rewarding one. Way to go guys!

Jim Reid introduced our program by first introducing John LoPicolo, Music Director, conductor and VP of the Board of Directors for the Poway Performing Arts Center. The Poway Sympathy Orchestra is performing at the PCPA on Sunday, May 19th at 4:00 p.m. Our own Sonny and Bob Googins funded the special and famous pianist who is performing with the symphony and made this event possible by their generosity. In addition, we were honored to have 3 top soloists whose group is called The BeneficTrio and they travel all over the world to treat their listeners to the most beautiful music ever. They played a Concerto #2 in C Minor for us. Sunhwa Kim played the piano, Misha Vayman the Violin and Qiele Guo the cello. They were experts in what they played but they were also down to earth, funny and very engaging with our club members. Great program!

Pat Chaffee announced that his wife, Rita, fell the other day but is recovering at home and doing better each day.
