President Doug called the meeting to order and we all said the Four Way Test.  Mike Fuqua gave a very meaningful introduction before leading us in the pledge.  Don Glover gave the inspirational message followed by his own personal statement!  We are all so blessed to have such a powerful and dedicated room of Rotarians who always appreciate our club and our country.  Way to go!!
Doug thanked the volunteers and it was announced that Joe Casterline had come home from the hospital.  She became an honorary member after her husband passed away.  Please drop her a card.
Alex introduced our guests and Joel led us in our Welcome Song with a new baton that.   Jim Reid brought back the idea after a recent  trip to Japan.  He visited a The Tokyo Ueno Rotary Club  and got the idea from them to use the baton.  Fun idea.  Now Joel will have to take baton lessons!!
*Don Glover has 40 tickets to the Padre game on July 28th but 35 are already sold.  Hurry and get yours
today!
*Cathy Glover said next week is the last time we can order See's Easter candy so bring your checks and fill out the order form.
*Alex Robertson invited our club members who may be interested in hearing about becoming a president of our club in 20/21 or in the near future.   It should be very interesting to hear what's involved.  Old and new members are encouraged to attend.  Please contact him to get more details.
*Mike Fuqua and Susan King are working very hard on our July 14th Vines and Vittles fund raiser at Webb Lake.  Things are going very well but they still need more food vendors, and wine and beer booths.  If you know of anyone who might step up and sponsor a booth, please contact them or tell Sue or Mike.  Thanks.
*Sonny is spear heading Model UN again this year and invites everyone to attend on Sat. at 9 a.m. on April 6-7 at the Joan Kroc Center at USD to see the debate.  Call her for details and/ or ride sharing.
John O'Neill had just a few short minutes for fines but managed to haul in some nice bucks!  It almost sounded like it was " Maureen Rouleau Day" when Mike Fuqua stood up and praised her for planning some trips and he was glad she did.  Took a lot of pressure of him and they were so happy with the results.
Then Maureen announced a wonderful trip coming up in March of 2020.  A paddlewheel boat down the lower Mississippi from Memphis, TN to New Orleans.  It's a small ship with about 83 cabins with many stops along the way.  Contact Maureen for all the details.  It should be lots of fun and several Rotarians from our club are going.  As an added perk, she will donate $100 to our RB Rotary Foundation for every booking from our club!
As Sandie Dewanes' last speaker of her quarter was introduced, she couldn't have picked a better one!!  She introduced Alex Buggy who is one of the developers of the new Seaport Village area.  They were awarded the contract in 2016 for Best Design and it really is going to be beautiful and exciting.  They are in the final planning stages and expect to break ground in 2022.  They hope to start construction then and it will take approximately 3 to 4 years to complete.   It's just what San Diego needs to showcase our beautiful city.  There is too much to explain in this newsletter so please go to their website at :
www.seaportsandiegoca.com  and see all they have to offer.  Thanks you Sandie for all your hard work!
