Scott joined Rotary in High School and has continued to serve. He shared message this evening was:

Announcements
March 3rd at 2pm and 4th at 11am OASIS is offering tours for Rotarians to see progress
Tickets are still available for Poway Symphony Orchestra on March 19th at 4pm.
March 25th the District is having training at no cost – from 8am -2pm at Liberty Station, go to website to register
March 29th Vines and Vittles Mixer will be held at Lucia from 4-6pm.

Sponsorship has reached $40,075 for 66% of the goal. Sandie’s team is still in first place. Please continue to work on getting additional sponsors. 3 Wineries and 3 Restaurants confirmed as well as 2 Breweries.
Received a grant from San Diego County for $6,700 that will support the Vines event.
Tues, April 25th - joint meeting with Sunrise club at RB Country Club to hear from a Ukrainian Refugee. RSVP to Alan, if you would like to attend. Cost will be $25, spots are filling up quickly!
April 28th NAMI Walk San Diego, 15 signed up so far, goal is 50

Speaker – Rudy Garcia-Tolson, Paralympic Swimmer, Runner, and Triathlete of Challenged Athletes Foundation
Rudy currently resides in Del Mar, he is 34 years old.
Rudy believes that the only real disability is a negative attitude.



Rudy was born with webbed fingers, a cleft palate, and legs that were attached at the knee. He spent the first years of his life in the hospital in efforts to remedy these issues. At the age of 5 years old his legs were amputated above the knee. At this time he became involved with the Challenged Athletes organization. Rudy has been able to overcome his disabilities and compete in Paralympic games around the world and in World Swimming Championships. The Challenged Athletes Foundation provides adaptive sporting equipment for permanently disabled. The organization helped Rudy along the way and now his mission is to mentor and provide support to others. His focus now is competing in Triathlons. A recent accomplishment that Rudy is happy about is that paralympic athletes now receive the same bonus funds that able bodied Olympians receive.


In appreciation of the speaker, the book “25 Women Who Defied Limitations” was presented by Jim H. and will be donated to the school library.
