Rancho Bernardo’s Webb Park will be the home on July 14, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, to “Vines & Vittles” a Western-themed Family Festival.

In the absence of our fearless leader, President Doug, Presidents Elect Susan and David King presided over our meeting tonight. President Elect Susan called the meeting to order, and led the Rotary Four Way Test. The membership was a sea of green supporting President Doug’s request to honor the Irish among us for St. Patrick’s Day by wearing green.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bill Brehm. The Inspirational Message was given by Toby Westbrook, reminding us all of the benefits of being a Mentor. Greeter, David King (wearing two hats today), introduced the visiting Rotarians and guests. Jim Sommers led the Welcome song, as well as an Irish sing-along.


President Elect Susan thanked todays volunteers: Joel Doss, Vern Cook and Kathy Glover, Front Desk, Bill Brehm, set up, James Kasper, photographer, Rz Norris, Scribe, and meeting organizer, John O’(Irish) Neill.


Mike Fuqua updated the membership on the Vines and Vittles activity. The ticket pricing structure is in place:

Scott Lawn put in a plug for Rancho Bernardo Business Associations “Savuor Rancho Bernardo Food Faire”. This will be held at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo on April 9th, 5:00 to 7:30 pm.

Gary Saks presented Andrea Breuninger, from Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, with a check for $2000 granted by the Foundation Board. She spoke to us briefly about the PKD Foundation. Gary also spoke about why the PKD Foundation is important to his family.


Fine master, John O’(Irish) Niell, with his Irish flat cap, garnered fines and Happy Bucks from the crowd.

Sandie Dewane introduced tonight’s speaker, Keely Linton, President of the “Strong Hearted Native Women’s Coalition”, a non-profit, non-governmental tribal coalition which seeks to create awareness against sexual assault and domestic violence. Keely also gave some insight into tribal structure within the Native American communities in San Diego County. The speakers’ book, “Locked up for Freedom”, was presented by Terry Hack.
