After leading us in reciting the 4 Way Test, she invited Benita Page to the podium to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Benita first read us a poem about our flag.

Next, new member Lee Proimos inspired us with his experience in working with Soroptimists International.  Lee was helping set up an apartment for transitional housing and was touched by the joy the children expressed when they found out they would be living there.

Greeter Barb Alberts introduced many guests both in person and on Zoom.  Joel Doss, baton in hand, then led us in serenading these guests.  Thankfully, none left.

Mike Fuqua told us that our Vines & Vittles fundraiser was ON this year after being cancelled in 2020 and 2021.  The date is Sunday, August 14th and the location is Webb Park.  He showed a video to show or remind new and long-time members of what the event was like.

All members are expected to participate and he passed around a sign up sheet.  If you don’t sign up and pick what you want to do, you will be assigned!

Don Glover had three announcements.  First, the Rotary Student Exchange program is looking for a host for a young man from Italy.  Second, Don is again heading up RB Rotary Days at Petco Park.  The first game is on Sunday, May 29th and there are 52 seats available. The cost is $39 a seat. Please see the sign-up sheet.

Lastly he asked for members to volunteer with him at the Community Food Connection in Poway.  See:  https://www.thecommunityfoodconnection.com/ for more information.

Via Zoom, Co-president Alex Robertson updated us on the status of the Imperial Valley Education grant he has been working on.  For $40 per student, the program will provide an entire year of education.  Currently Rotarians, members of  the Migrant Office and employees of the Imperial Valley school districts ar being trained on how to implement this program.  75 children from 3 school districts will be selected to participate in piloting this program.

Mara Morrison of San Diego Youth Services received a $2000 matching gift from club foundation president Mike.  Terry Heck initiated this gift by organizing a group to contribute $1000.

Gary Saks introduced our speaker, Jeff Poole.  Jeff is a principal at Wealth Analytics, joining them in 2017.  He specializes in personal investment planning risk analysis and building client relationships to help meet their individual and family goals.  Jeff’s topic was demystifying cryptocurrency.
