After President Jim Reid called us all to order and welcomed everyone, he led us in our 4-way test recitation. He thanked our meeting’s volunteers:
Greeter: Ken Heinz
Scribe: Pete Griffith
Front desk: Pat Chaffie and Joel Doss
A/V: Dave Brooks
Sgt. At Arms: Bob Vaughn and Joel Doss
With Bill Brehm behind his camera.

Ken Heinz recognized a couple of visiting Rotarians, Past Presidents and guests. Then Joel led us in the club‘s welcome song.

Shirley Napierala presented our February Birthday cake with at least 4 members with “Birthday Smiles.”
Announcements from our President:
--Leap Day: Feb. 29 will be a Rotary Youth Instrumental Music Contest, in the evening, a special treat!
--5340 District Training Experience—March 9 at Liberty Station. A special opportunity to learn all about Rotary in the world!
---Our annual joint meeting with the R.B. “Early Birds” will be held at night on April 16.

---Bob Vaughn raised “tons of money” from those smiling positive “Happy Bucks” players.

Jim Hyldahl helped us recognize Joel Doss who was honored this past week by the 3500 family members of St. Michael’s Parish as the “Grand Knight” of “The Knights of Columbus.”

Today was the “Four Way Test Speech Contest,” and we had 2 entrants—both from Del Norte High. Marty Judge was “shepherd of this flock,” with both ladies doing their best for the $500 first and $250 second place awards. We heard about vandalism in San Francisco coupled with “Why people who have access to so much” want even more—in wasteful acts.

The other speaker also discussed her version of the of lack of adequate public school curriculum covering more about race and gender in the inequality of our education system.

During the evaluation by our 3 judges, Bob Vaughn reminded us of our 2 Rotary Foundations, RI’s and our club’s, and how they both work to make our world a better place.
President Jim reminded our Club Board that they were to ‘huddle” after the meeting.

President Jim reminded us that next week’s speaker, Marty Judge, is on his “Windows on the World.” He will discuss diplomacy and the State Dept.
Respectfully submitted,
Pete Griffith
