Meeting Minutes

August 9, 2018
President Doug brought the meeting to order and led us in reciting the 4 Way Test.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by new member Alan Turner, who talked about his naturalization ceremony for US citizenship.  Cathy Glover inspired us a story about a bolder in the road and how all obstacles present opportunities to overcome them.
Our greeter was Lou Anna Dickerson and she introduced several guests including current President Mike Moffat and Mary Stanton of the RB Sunrise club. Joel Doss did a great job in leading us in singing the welcome song.
Doug thanked our volunteers:  room setup by Sgt. at Arms Jim Reid, Paul Donick and Pat Chaffee; check-in by Joel Doss, Don Glover and Maguy Feghali; photography by James Kaspar; Bill Angus for doing the newsletter and these words by your humble scribe, Dave Brooks.
Immediate past president Mike Fuqua solicited signups for our fundraiser which will be held in June, 2019.  It’s called “Vines and Vittles” and we will be hosting it jointly with the RB Historical Society.
Doug gave Rotary coins to Dan Malloy and Lou Anna Dickerson for their long-standing accounting and tax services to the club and club foundation.  Dan has also worked on accounting for MusiCamp and revising the club’s bylaws.
Doug announced several Rotary events.  There’s a trip to Tijuana on 8/18.  District Council is on 8/21.   Ronald McDonald serving will be held on 8/22.  The 8/23 club meeting will be at CC of RB.  Doug moved the TGIX at his house to 9/7.  There’s landscape clean up in La Mesa in 9/15.
Pat Chaffee did his “Who Am I” and revealed that he is a rare commodity:  a native Montanan.
Pat then introduced our speaker Jan Allen who spoke to us about new tax laws.
