6:15 Honoring Senior Rotarians: Gary Saks
Gary Saks gave a speech to honor 6 long-time RB Rotary Club members that he lamented was very much overdue. All 6 — Benita Page, Troy Daum, Shirley Napierala, Jim Sommer, Larry Valente, and Ron Hunt — have been President of our club during their careers, but had never won the Rotarian of the Year Award. Gary called each one up individually and gave a brief summary of what they have accomplished since joining our club. Their time of membership in RB Rotary varied from 18 to 52 years. Gary explained that there is no time like the present to do the right thing and honor them in a special ceremony. Jim Hyldahl gave them each a beautiful plaque to commemorate the occasion. Congratulations to the Sensational 6!

6:30 Katie Kim, Flute, played a brilliant mini-recital for us, Katie astonished us all with her brilliant technique, and mesmerized us with her exquisite tone and musical sensitivity. Her varied program ranged from 18th century German music by Telemann to a tango by Argentinian composer Piazolla, with a dazzling French etude and Debussy’s meditative Syrinx in between. She also explained many facets of flute history and playing techniques. We were enchanted.
