Remaining 2019 Volunteer Opportunities at Ronald McDonald House, the dates are:

November 5th

We usually have about 10 members help serve dinner from 6:00 to 7:30.  The majority of our group needs to arrive at 4:00PM to prepare food and also stay after dinner to clean up until 8:00 PM. Please let Past President and volunteer coordinator Gary Saks know if you are interested in volunteering.

Here are some pictures from our latest dinner service on August 6th:

Rotary meeting minutes for 8/1/19

Co-Presidents Susan and David opened the meeting by leading us in reciting the traditional Rotary 4-Way Test. They recognized volunteers Maguy Feghali as Greeter, Joel Doss, Benita Page and Ron Hunt for manning the check-in desk, plus Troy Daum leading the Pledge and Cathy Glover for giving the Inspirational Message. Also thanked were club photographer James Kaspar, John O’Neill as Meeting Volunteer Organizer and Scribe, plus setup by John Kasser and Bill Brehm.

Announcements included a Don Glover recap of the Padres July game, where we had 60 attendees and a pregame tailgate party. Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to the next game on Tuesday, September 10th, against the Chicago Cubs. Let Don know if you are going to be there!

Also, there is an urgent need for blood donations in support of Maureen Rouleau. Be sure to take a selfie during the donation procedure, so we can send them to Maureen with our best wishes for her quick recovery.

Vern Cook will once again be spearheading our annual gathering of school supplies and backpacks. Jim Hyldahl informed us that he would be working to get Rotoractors to help with our next RB cleanup day.

Mike Stelman announced that the poinsettia sale benefitting the Marines is already upon us. Let Mike know if you are going to buy a box (or more), Please solicit your friends, neighbors and associates to buy these beautiful holiday boxes of eight flowers each.

Diane Remick reminded us that tickets on sale for an August 21st Day at the Races. 50 tickets have been reserved for the Thoroughbred Club. The seats are above the finish line and valet parking is available right at the entrance.

Finemaster John O’Neill managed to fine Dan Barrios for being a no-show at another club meeting. Troy gave another very generous donation, as did Toby Westbrook in honor of his deceased sister-in-law.

The speaker was our very own Alan Turner, speaking on cybercrime and how to protect yourself. Ideas included not clicking on URL’s, just hover over them and hit delete and using different passwords on all of your accounts. He recommended Roboform to protect and keep all of your passwords.
