Minutes for RB Rotary October 6, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo by President Benita . Scott Robertson led the pledge in behalf of the high school students he visited who were not allowed to say the pledge as a routine start of the school day.For inspiration, Jim Sommer told a tale of an elderly man building a bridge to traverse a river once so that those young people who follow could use it! Shirley Napierala navigated tables to introduce our guests: There was one Rotarian visitor from Hawaii, Sonny Bunyan, and five others who were treated to our welcome song and glass drum beat!
President Benita thanked the meeting volunteers: Joel Doss and Judy Lutticken at the desk, Set Up, also Judy L., Doug Dawson and Paul Donick. Our photographer, James Kaspar was on duty, and Scribe Sonny Googins. Announcements reminded us of upcoming events such as the Foundation Seminar on October 8 at USD, the Leadership Institute-October 22 and the Foundation Dinner and Cruise on November 5th.
Subsequent meetings will be held at Stoneridge Country Club. Larry Saunders reminded us of the BBQ at Interfaith on November 12 as a service project, and Francis Blair mentioned sessions for the Greeting Card Project for the military active duty members.
Fine Master John O'Neill gave us a brake due to his happy vacation and relied on members for Happy Bucks, many of whom celebrated Anniversaries, new grandkids, good news and trips of varied length. The Glovers' extended road trip helped fill our coffers!A Public Relations volunteer is being sought to promote our music program.
Mira Bozanich introduced Dr. Danielle Chavalaais who presented "My Optimal Brain" . The sense of the program was that we can 'retrain' our brain to avoid stress and direct it to positive feelings and actions. Jim Hyldahl did his usual masterful job of selecting an appropriate book from our collection for our guest to sign.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 P.M. after President Benita offered this closing thought: "Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution."
