President Don Glover called the meeting to order and Past President Bill Bonner led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Treasurer Rick Bramble forgot his glasses, so Secretary Jeanne Hawkins read us an opening inspirational thought from our Book of Invocations, which is in the club storage box.  Jeanne also introduced our visitors who were:  Dave LeMaster (RBHS principal), Dee Saks, Debbie Kurth (candidate for RB Honorary Mayor) and prospective member Tom Knolls.  We welcomed our guests with the “Happy Clap” taught us by RI President Gary Huang.  Immediate Past President Gary Saks really enjoyed not singing the club’s traditional welcome song.

President Don thanked our volunteers:  meeting set up by Vern Cook, Bill Bonner and Past President Paul Donick, check-in Frances Blair, Past President Kathleen Smith, Rick and Bob Barr.  Piano music was provided by John Hawkins, and scribe services are by Past President Dave Brooks.

Past President Mira Bozanich updated us on the Family of Rotary.  John O’Neill is still recovering from surgery and asks for cards only, no calls.  Paul Casterline has finished his chemo and is recovering.

President Don proclaimed a Senior Moment and said he gave Stephanie Wolterman her gold badge after, not during, last week’s meeting. She had completed her gold badge requirements by delivering her “Who Am I” talk that day.
President Don announced that the International Youth Symphony concert on July 26 was wonderful and our club had excellent attendance at this event.  Congratulations to Past Presidents Dan Malloy and Ron Hunt for playing a major role in organizing this project, now in its 10th year.
He also announced that we needed RSVPs for our August 14 evening meeting because our speaker would be San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer.  We expect a large turnout because this is the first time Mayor Faulconer has spoken in RB since he was sworn in.

Marty Judge then introduced Debbie Kurth who told us why she would be a good honorary mayor and asked us to attend Casino Night at Stoneridge CC on August 26.
Charley Crew reminded us that the deadline for grant applications for the club’s foundation is August 25.  Application forms can be found on at RBrotary.org under the tab “RB Rotary Foundation”.
Principal Dave LeMaster thanked us for the scholarships we have presented to RBHS students this year.
President Don skipped his “Who Am I” to give 4th string Finemaster Gary Saks more time to fine people and get lots of Happy Bucks.

Paul Donick introduced our speaker Kyle Kraska, who told us about his experiences as a sportscaster at KFMB Channel 8.
Charley Crew presented Kyle with his speaker gift and President Don told us that our speaker next week would be our District Governor Louise Andres.  Before adjourning the meeting, he left us with this closing inspirational thought:
“Sincerity is the end and beginning of things.  Without sincerity, there would be nothing.”
