Rotary meeting minutes 8/27/15

President Arilla brought the meeting to order by thanking volunteers Bob Vaughn for the pledge, Diane Berry as greeter, Brian Flaherty for the Opening Inspirational Thought and John O’Neill as scribe.  For the meeting set up she thanked Paul Donick and Judy Lutticken, plus Frances Blair and Kathleen Smith for manning the check-in desk. Also thanked was our excellent club photographer, James Kaspar, club secretary Jeanne Hawkins, newsletter publisher Bill Angus and our piano maestro John Hawkins.

President Arilla read a thank-you note from Pat Bonner, who expressed her gratitude for the kindness from the many Rotarians who joined her at Bill’s service.  Don Glover reminded us that the last Rotary Padres game against the LA Dodgers is on September 5th, and that today is the last day to confirm your attendance.  Judy Lutticken was called to the podium to accept her permanent gold badge, which is “in the mail”.  Congratulations Judy!

Finemaster John O’Neill peckishly fined Troy Daum for wearing a orangish pinkish shirt. Many members donated Happy Bucks.  Thanks once again for your continued generosity.

Our program was a Club Assembly.  President-elect Benita Page presented an in-depth review of The Rotary Foundation and went over the mechanics of gift giving to TRF.  President of our own RB Club Foundation, Gary Saks, provided an update of the fine condition of our local foundation.  Our club has been donating $50k+ each year for the last few years.

President Arilla adjourned the meeting and announced that the August 3rd meeting speaker is Kent Porter discussing the “Art of telling the truth”.
