President Mike called the meeting to order, celebrating 54 years of Service Above Self, and then we recited our motto.  Most of us can now say it without looking at the banner!  Phil Warner led us in the pledge and Cathy Glover delivered the inspirational message.  Dave King was our greeter and he called his lovely wife Susan  up to the front to help in singing the Welcome Song!  Joel, Don G. and Toby worked the front desk and Judy and Paul D. were our set up crew.  Some extra work for them with so many guests attending!
Announcements:

The Demotion Party will be June 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Bernardo Heights CC.  Contact Mira if you haven't signed up yet and she'll put you on the list.  Money and dinner selection is needed at this time.

Vern announced that we have one more week to donate underwear and socks (June 7th) for the homeless at their annual "Stand Down" Day where they meet and spend the weekend enjoying a camp out and have different services available to them at no cost.  Thanks so much to Frances and Vern for their efforts.
RB Alive is on June 3rd and we've had a great number sign ups to work our Rotary Booth.  Thanks!

Diane Remick gave her very interesting Who Am I that qualified her to receive her gold badge in record time.  Born in San Francisco, she spent most of her life in the Bay Area until she met her husband in college, raised a family, lived in Italy for a short time and then attended college and became a para legal.
We are so happy to welcome her to our club.  She'll be a wonderful asset!
Arilla stood in for our Fine Master and did a great job raising some extra bucks for our club.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) was our program.  This event started right here in San Diego in 1972.  We had 5 Juniors from Del Norte High and 5 from RB High join us for lunch and to share their experiences at the weekend camp.  Jim Reid was the Co-Ordinator for this event and thanked Troy for heading up RYLA for so many years.  We saw the best of the best from each high school following last weeks meeting where we presented scholarships to the Seniors from each school.  The councilors from both schools attended as did some of the parents.  They have so much to be proud of!
