Toby Westbrook surprised members with a special notation of an important Rotary Anniversary, May 4, 1987. when the Supreme Court decided that women should be admitted to membership in a then male organization. The first club to do this, Larkspur Landing, and first to elect a woman president. Toby suggested that RB recognize this event annually in the future with an event, such as a dinner.

Fine Master John O'Neill is being challenged by the "Pink Revolution" wherein members are wearing "pink on purpose." John responded as expected, fining all "pinker men" $10. It is rumored that more strategies are being planned by challenger Jim Hyldahl.

A very enlightening program followed Jim Sommer's introduction of Steve Weihe and Justin Ono of SD Environmental Services. They talked about San Diego Recycling facility at Miramar. The program generated many questions from members. A handout categorizing waste items was very informative . 2/3rds of trash can be recycled, $4 million is received from recycling and $2million saved by keeping landfill volume reduced by recycling. The goal is Zero Waste by 2040.
