Rotary meeting minutes for 6/21/18
Mike “El Hefe Presidente Magnifico” Fuqua opened his final meeting by leading us in reciting the traditional Rotary values. He then recognized volunteers Dick Norfolk as Greeter, Joel Doss, Patrick Chaffee and Alex Lawn for manning the check-in desk, plus Frances Blair giving the Inspirational Message. Also thanked were club photographer James Kasper, John O’Neill as Scribe, Alex Lawn for leading the Pledge and setup man Paul Donick. We were so proud of President Mike to finally nail getting the meetings right on his last try. Way to go Mike!
President Mike then shared a sing along video of the 4-Way Test. He then thanked everyone for the fine Demotion sendoff. For those who were unable to attend the Demotion Party, we would like to give a shout out to our newest   Rotarian of the Year, Gary Saks. Congratulations Gary, it’s well deserved! Don Glover reminded all that the next Padre game is on July 15th, and to see or call him to sign up for the game. Dave Brooks and his Spirit of the Fourth crew could use more volunteers. Soon to be ex-President Mike announced we will dark on June 28th because of the high number of our members attending the Toronto Rotary International Conference.
We took time to time warmly welcome the many the members of our sister club Miramar Naval Base and Marine Air Station.
Finemaster John O’Neill fined relentlessly and collected many Happy Bucks  from our outstanding members..
Karen Stelman introduced our speaker, her husband Mike Stelman, who shared his pride in being a Rotarian. He gave us an extensive overview of the positive things that Rotarians do make the world a better place. This was an excellent and memorable program presented by a dedicated and generous Rotary leader.
Remember, the June 28th meeting is dark. Our program for the June 5th will be Jim Bregante relating the history of Little Italy.

President adjourned the meeting with two quotes:

  • The foundation upon which Rotary is built is friendship; on no less foundation could it have stood.  Paul Harris
  • Rotarians are very more favorably disposed toward action than they are towards words.  Paul Harris
