HAPPY HOLIDAYS & Happy New Year!!!
Meeting Minutes
December 15, 2016
Our meeting today had a modified agenda. President Benita brought the meeting to order and asked the District Governor Nominee, our own John Goodrich, to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. John Kasser then inspired us with some thoughts about golf.At this point the RB High School Madrigals arrived with director Lisa Friedrichs and Mira Bozanich introduced them. This group of 23 students was wonderfully attired in long black gowns and tuxedos. They sang us several seasonal songs and answered our questions about their musical experience. A wonderful visit as always.
After they left, Benita asked Ron Hunt to introduce our visiting Rotarians and guests; we had a bunch. We had TWELVE past, present and future district governors present, including Bob Hartsfield, Christine Montan, Mike Stelman, Marty Peters, Keith Dindinger, Larry Scott, Dave Breeding, Carl Kruse, Janice Kurth, Marilyn Sanderson and Scott Carr We had several visitors including Alberta Max, Karen Edwards, Helen Vaughn and Carol Kasser. Past president Gary Saks did his usual great job leading us in our welcome song.
Benita thanked our volunteers: room setup by Judy Lutticken and past president Paul Donick; check-in by Joel Doss and past president Kathleen Smith; photography by James Kaspar; past president Bill Angus for doing the newsletter and these words by your humble scribe, past president Dave Brooks. The district governors were present to congratulate John at the beginning of his journey to becoming District Governor in 2019-20. John thanked them and the club for their support.
Past president Shirley Napierala told us that the money we donated to Adopt-a-Family would go to 2 local families, one with 2 children and one with 3 children. The identity of these families was kept confidential as always.
The dictionary labeling party at Toby Westbrookâs house on December 10th was a success; we labeled thousands of books in about 2 hours. Our final community service project of 2016 will be at the 4S Ranch Boys & Girls Club on December 20th. We will make doggie chew toys out of old tee shirts.Past district governor Janice Kurth gave us 2 awards from the Rotary Foundation: 100% participation and a donation of at least $100 from each member. Past president Don Glover told us that over the years our club has donated $592,000 to the Rotary Foundation.
President Benita reminded us that we are not meeting on December 22nd and 29th and closed the meeting with quote about music: where words fail, music speaks. .jpg)
