Meeting Minutes
April 27, 2017

President Benita brought the meeting to order and past President Don Glover lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

He was taking the place of Brian Flaherty who was having his hip replaced.

Our inspirational thought came from new member Sally Rovner who read us a poem about what a great time this is to be alive.
President-elect Mike Fuqua presided over introducing our visiting Rotarians and guests then we sang them our welcome song.
Benita thanked our volunteers: room setup by Judy Lutticken and past President Paul Donick; check-in by Joel Doss and past President Troy Daum; photography by James Kaspar and these words by your humble scribe, past President Dave Brooks.
We had several announcements from President Benita. Rotarians at Work will be this Saturday April 29th and we will paint the hallway at the Child Development Center on the Marine Corps Air Base. The District Conference will be on Saturday, 5/20. It is again a joint conference with D5320 and will be held at the Liberty Station Conference Center.

Frances Blair announced that the food drive to benefit Interfaith Community Services will end today. An ICS representative came and thanked us for our donations and we loaded their van with all the food.

In Family of Rotary news, District Governor Nominee Designate John Goodrich told us that past member Stephanie Wolterman is pregnant with her second son.

President Benita acknowledged three members who were recognized at the RB “Hats Off to Volunteers” ceremony on April 22nd: our own Vern Cook, Maureen Rouleau for her work with the RB Community Foundation and your scribe for being inducted into the RB Hall of Fame.
The Crews and the Dawsons are co-hosting a friendship/Polio Plus fundraiser dinner at the Dawson’s house on May 26th. Please call Doug to attend this event.
Foundation president Gary Saks said that this year’s fundraising campaign is going well and will wrap up soon.

Past member Marty Judge introduced our speaker City Attorney Mara Elliot who spoke about her first 4 months in office.

President Benita closed the meeting with this Ronald Reagan quote: “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”
