Greetings and Happy New Year!

I hope that you have had a happy and blessed holiday season. In our house, Patty and I have enjoyed what, for me, is the best time of the year. As I look at the weather across the country, I think we should feel especially blessed to live in a place with such hospitable weather. I am looking forward to returning to our Rotary family next week and continuing an exciting year. I've had a good time in my tenure as President and am sure the second half will be just as rewarding and fun. See you next week!

There are also a few issues that I wanted to bring to your attention:

  • We have received a couple of thank-you's for our contributions to assist with hurricane recovery. The Rotary Club of Port Lavaca, Texas and the Rotary District 7020 Hurricane Irma Fund both have sent very nice thank-you acknowledgements. I'll bring them to the meeting next week.
  • I hope you saw my announcement regarding Scott and Erin Robertson's new bundle of joy. Their son, Shane Alan was born on Dec 21 and all are doing well.
  • I have recently renewed our contract with BHCC for 2018. Part of the renewal will be an increase in luncheon price to $22. I hope you will agree with me that we get a very good venue and food for that price and that price increases are inevitable. Your board has agreed with this increase rather than searching for a new venue.
  • On January 11 (the second Thursday of the month) we will be having a luncheon meeting instead of our normal evening meeting. The Vista Room is booked for a club event that evening so we will just move to hold our meeting at lunch. I will remind you of that next week.

That's it for now. I hope you have a fun, safe and happy New Year celebration and will see you next week!

YIRS,
Mike
