The meeting was called to order by Co-President Susan King. Greg Bohart led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Inspirational Message was given by Felix Luciano. Greeter Troy Daum introduced two visiting Rotarians and six guests. All were treated to the Welcome Song, performed by an impromptu choir consisting of leader Jim Reid, Troy, Jim Sommer, Jim Hyldahl, Susan and David King.

Co-President Susan thanked the following volunteers: Front Desk – Bill Brehm, Terry Heck, Shirley Napierala; Set-up Crew – John Kasser, Bill Brehm; Photographer – James Kaspar; Meeting organizer – John O’Neill and Scribe – Sandie Dewane.

Co-President David King reported that 14 members have signed up for the Rotary District Golf League. The Golf League will play from December – April. Dave also mentioned that 37 “End Polio” tee shirts have been ordered and we should wear the tee-shirts to our 9/19 meeting when the District Governor will be in attendance. The shirts can be picked up at our 9/12 evening meeting.

Bob Chambers informed us that a member survey will be emailed to the membership.
Mike Stelman thanked all who have ordered poinsettias and said there is still time to place orders and to also think of any businesses that might want to purchase some for the holidays.
Arilla St. Laurent gave today’s Family of Rotary report and reminded us to keep Maureen Rouleau in our thoughts and prayers.

On behalf of the Rotary Foundation, Dan Barrios introduced Benita Page who made a special Paul Harris Fellow presentation to Judy Blackford, President & CEO of Gently Hugged, an all- volunteer non-profit organization that provides clothing and other essentials to newborns in need throughout San Diego County. The items are distributed by nurses and social workers to low income, military, immigrant and foster families.

Jim Hyldahl made a presentation to Toby Westbrook in the form of a “Stockman’s Bar” tee-shirt brought back from Missoula, Montana by Jim and his fishing buddies Rick Bramble, Mike Fuqua and Don Glover. Apparently, Toby spent many fond hours at this establishment in his youth and made quite an impression!

Our “looking good” Fine Master John O’Neill started with fining those who weren’t wearing their Rotary pins. He thanked (but did not fine) Troy Daum for the job he did as Greeter today. He then asked for happy bucks and many people rose to the occasion. Bob Barr gave $150 in honor of his recent 80th birthday, 48th wedding anniversary and for some missed fines along the way. Karen Stelman because her six weeks are up and this is the last day she has to wear a back brace. Mike Stelman was happy because he can retire as “Nurse Ratched” to Karen. John Kasser on behalf of his granddaughter who made the volleyball team; Mike Fuqua for catching the biggest fish on a great fly fishing trip with Jim Hyldahl, Rick Bramble and Don Glover; Jim Sommer for his upcoming trip to Montana, which will now include a stop at Stockman’s Bar in Missoula since he’s heard so much about it; Dan Barrios and Arilla St. Laurent were happy because their shared housekeeper is back at work.
