The meeting was very well attended, with plenty of members and guests. Co-Presidents Athenea and Alex opened in their traditional stage sharing way to begin the festivities. The Pledge was given by new member Katie Hunter and the Inspirational Message with a Thanksgiving theme came from Charley Crew.
Our Greeter, Bob Vaughn, introduced the visitors. He was followed by our ebullient song master, Maestro Joel Doss, who led us in in a snappy rendition of our welcome song.
Co-President Alex thanked our other volunteers; John O’Neill as Scribe, Bill Angus our newsletter and website editor, Sergeant-at-Arms and photographer Bill Brehm. He also recognized the stalwart front desk team; Joel Doss, Pat Chaffee and Cathy Glover.
Mike Fuqua was asked to relate how rewarding their polio inoculation trip to India was. Joining Mike was wife patty, Charley and Barb Crew plus Gary and Didi Saks. After their return Mike was contacted by the Agra(India) club for help in raising funds for Covid-19 masks in their area. He sprang into action by opening a GoFundMe account and soliciting our members and other Rotary clubs for donations. $35,000 was generously raised and sent directly to the Agra club. Kudos to everyone involved!
Arilla St. Laurent sadly announced the passing of Brian Flaherty’s beloved spouse Bibi. Our hearts go out to Brian in this stressful time. Also, after receiving a lusty chorus of boos, John O’Neill, our cantankerous Finemaster, enjoyed donations from many of our members.
President Elect Elect Jim Reid Introduced our speakers, Conductor John Lo Piccolo and pianist Frederic Moyer, from the Poway Symphony Orchestra.
They demonstrated the use in of spacing when interpreting a composition and played a song for the members and guests.
Meeting adjourned by Co-President Athenea.
