President Dave called another Rotary Zoom meeting to order on May 28 at 11: 05 with the Four-Way Test, which sounded more synchronized because attending members were all muted-so too Joel leading all in the Welcome Song. Don Glover solemnly led us in the pledge of allegiance asking us to remember all who sacrificed-with a vision of the row on row of crosses and flags we see at Arlington and other National Cemeteries. Felix Luciano alluded to many of Rotary activities that  inspire his membership . President Dave thanks all volunteers including Mike Fuqua, setting up weekly Zoom meetings; Scribe, Sonny Googins;  and weekly production of Minutes-Bill Angus.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Mike Fuqua reminded us that next week's program will be about the trip to India with the Crews and Saks; Patrick Chaffee reported on weekly Happy Bucks which have been significant; Alex Robertson's report on Rotary Masks pointed out Bill Brehm's large contribution to their purchase and thanked all who committed to a number -still just a bit short of 250 accounted for; Risa's Red Badge meeting report noted that our District Governor, Marta, did an excellent job pointing out activities that are the Heart of Rotary that really informed those attending. Michael Ortiz reinforced her comments observing " how organized and efficient Rotary's connections are across the world." Don Glover said the Foundation Board is meeting in July-and thanked those making contributions weekly. The Club Board Meeting will be July 16.

Virtual Celebration of the Covid-19 Grants will be June 5th.  Stay tuned for the Virtual  International Rotary  Convention that will occur the week of June 20,  8:00 AM to June 26 at 5:00 P.M.   See News Bits.  Also District 5340 Virtual Governor's Dinner-6 to 9 P.M. June 29.

Dan barrios reported that we have achieved 100%  membership- donating to the Rotary Foundation  with our average gift of $404.  This placed us 2nd in the Region. Not Bad!

Arilla reported that John Sullivan was doing well, and John O'Neill reported himself that physical therapy is assisting him in recovering from his operation and enabling him to walk.

HAPPY Bucks ranged  from Ron Hunt's son's success in 'sneaker stock' needed to be celebrated-even if our generation doesn't understand it, and Jim Hyldahl's  donation of his culinary skills continue to bring in mucho very Happy Bucks for the RB treasury. Now, Fish and Fowl -we understand that!

WHO AM I : Bob Vaughn and Bill Brehm shared their stories.

Bob Vaughn.-began by identifying himself as an "LA Boy" where his claim to fame was getting fired from his first job-and joining the Navy thereafter.  Attending formal school was not for him. But Navy experience gave him journeys from Santa Barbara, Burbank, LAX,  and jobs in San Diego, Mara Mar, etc. led him from Programmer to Air Traffic Controller as a life career with wife Helen, who passed in April. Besides living in homes, their life thrived for a time in a mobile home ; retirement in '94 and return to SD in '01. His Rotary history is impressive.  Another draftee of Don Glover for us, his initial Rotary experience began in 1988, but he landed in RB's club in 2016. In previous clubs he was President, and held  many positions that began in Ramona's club. An invaluable member of RB, Bob continues to serve with distinction as a willing colleague, Rotary benefactor, and friend to us all.

Bill Brehm: I must say, as he said, that Bill was born into the 'family business' with printer's ink in his veins, All were treated to not only his personal experience and family's growth of local newspapers throughout the US, but the history of the printing business during his lifetime. He and his four siblings all entered the world of print, begun by his father, who started out in the "Industrial Post" at $40 a week to owning and developing multiple 'specialty' publications existing today. The business ultimately became Brehm Communications, and he President- after starting out as a young man who many thought was 'too young to manage' the positions he held throughout his career. From 'hot lead' to, cold type, proofing metal Linotype forms , and finally digital printing-he survived it all and led us through a mini history of  one aspect of the print industry.  Another Glover find, he has contributed to RB Rotary significantly from the day he joined us in 2017. The 'bosses son'  Rotary membership was good fortune for all.

Next meeting, June 4th. The India Experience.
President Dave adjourned the meeting at 12:10.
