Alyssa Broda
46% of kids in San Diego County are struggling to read at grade level by 4th grade
Words Alive aims to open opportunities for life success by inspiring a commitment to reading. They provide access to books and shared reading experiences to over 5000 students in the county
They have 3 core programs, all aimed at increasing literacy and reading proficiency in children and teenagers
Family Literacy Program
Read Aloud Program
Adolescent Book Group
Words Alive has no government funding, relies solely on corporations and individuals
They create learning kits for students, which requires 800 volunteers each tear to distribute around 30,000 kits
Words Alive is looking for board members, if you are interested reach out to Alyssa
Terry presented a book on the Constitution to be donated to the Middle School Library
