Rotary March Madness Calendar Changes
If you are a college basketball fan, you know how crazy tracking basketball games is in March. In that same spirit, I want to share RB Rotary Club's March Madness Calendar. Why is it madness you ask? Well, probably not, but it is a tad different this month in several ways. Please take note:
- March 6 - Our club meeting at The Heights this week will be a LUNCH gathering, as they could not accommodate us for dinner.
- March 13- will be our EVENING dinner meeting.
- March 18- is our joint meeting with the RB Sunrise Club. We will meet at CCRB for our weekly EVENING meeting, where the Four Way Test Speech Contest Sub-Regional competition will occur. This will be our only meeting that week. More info from Sunrise is forthcoming.
- March 20 - we will be DARK at the Heights, thus accommodating our joint meeting on Tuesday. This will also be our exchange for our last Saturday of the month event.
- Thursday, March 27th we will have a LUNCH meeting. We will NOT be dark as we were already dark on March 20.
Whew! So there you have it! This is our RB Rotary March Madness Calendar! I promise this is the only month of the year where our calendar will be "Madness," and I hope you'll join me as we have some great things in store this month.
Interfaith Tour, Saturday Exchange Event
Did you know that Interfaith is only 1 of 2 family shelters in all of North County? Are you aware that Interfaith last year received over 700 family requests for shelter, yet they only have the resources to accommodate up to 13 beds at a time? This is sad but true.
On Saturday, several club members and I attended the Interfaith tour and field trip. It was a highly successful event that showed us first-hand where families are given a second chance at life with food, clothing, shelter, counseling, job preparation training, child care, and mental and other health services. It was impressive to see how all-encompassing Interfaith's efforts are in providing life skills to homeless families that ultimately set them up for success and self-sufficiency! It was a great opportunity for our club to network with Interfaith on ways we can support them with future service. I left feeling good, knowing that this is but one of several local non-profits our club supports. But of course, more events await with future Saturday exchange events in the months ahead. Field trips like this are also ideal opportunities for us to bring new member prospects along to see what Rotary services and resources our club provides to the local community. This folks, is the Making of Rotary Magic!
USD Rotaract Club becomes Sanctioned.
Last Wednesday, the USD Rotaract club was sanctioned as the newest club in District 5340. Dianne Crawford, our DG, and several other district leaders were present along with RB Rotary and several of USD's sponsoring Rotary clubs. It has been something in our vision for the last several years and now RB Rotary is a proud Rotaract sponsor! I can't express enough how thrilling it is to see this long-time hope come to fruition. This was an excellent opportunity for our club to network with others and to start recruiting Rotaractors for Vines and Vittles and other future Rotary projects!
Extended Silent Auction ENDS on March 6!
This Thursday is your last chance to bid on a luscious basket of exotic wines and an assortment of gift cards that will go to the highest bidder at the end of the March 6th meeting. The gift basket holds approximately $1000 in assorted wines and gift cards, all of which were donated by club members. Don't miss out on this fabulous opportunity. You can bid in person at any of our next meetings or email your bid to Ken Heinz before March 6th. All proceeds go directly back to our club's budget. Thus far, the highest bid is$725. Don’t miss it!
