Rancho Bernardo Rotary Meeting of July 18, 2024

President Terry called the meeting to order at 12:15.

As customary everyone stood and recited the 4 Way Test and Terry led us in the Pledge.
There was confusion by members about what comes next until President Terry posted on the screen a notice for all to sit.
President Terry thanked all the volunteers for today’s meeting which included:
Greeter - Jan Goldsmith
Scribe - John Goodrich
AV - Dave Brooks
Front desk - Pat Chaffe and Joel Doss
Sgt. At Arms - Joel Doss
Photographer - Bill Brehm
Book Presenter - Barb Alberts

Jan Goldsmith Greeter welcomed visiting Rotarians and guests. We had 1 visiting Rotarian, James Morrison, who was making a short presentation on the Paul Harris Society program. And we had two guests visiting today.

Joel Doss, who is packed with way too much energy, led everyone in the Welcome song.

Pursuant to President Terry’s change in format we had the guest speaker first. Gary Saks introduced Matt Brown from the Anti-Defamation League. We have had Matt present to our Club in the past and each time we all learn something new. Wonderful presentation.

Barb Alberts made the book presentation with Matt signing the cover.

Today was the birthday celebration. For the month we had only 5 admitted birthdays, but still we gave a wonderful rendition of Happy Birthday along with chocolate cake for all.

James Morrison, as representative of District Rotary Foundation, explained some of the Paul Harris Society program and announced that Alan Turner is the newest member of the Society.

Charlene Zettel made a “Who AM I” presentation. This is new under President Terry’s term, having members come up and give a “Who AM I” so that all members can better be acquainted. It is always shocking to hear what our members have accomplished and a little of their background, and Charlene was no exception.

Alan Turner announced the Vine & Vittles survey on each table and the desire to have everyone complete the survey. A lot of resources go into the event each year and the leaders wish to have a better understanding of how members feel about it. Alan stated we netted right at $40,000 for our Foundation.
Sandie Dewane gave the shortest Family of Rotary possible. Nothing to report.
Bob Vaughn led in Happy Bucks, but given the time constraints there was only one Happy Buck from Ken Heinz. We congratulate Jean on ringing the bell.

Announcements:
Day at the Races -Del Mar social, Diane Remick
Athenea Luciano- Picnic, Liberty our therapy horse,
Meeting was adjourned at 1:35
