By Sandie Dewane, Scribe

Our Calls to Action:
Tell President Alan if you have a “My Rotary Moment”
Vines & Vittles Volunteer Sign Up
Mental Health Initiative – sign up to be on the District mailing list

President Alan Turner called the meeting to order and we recited the Four Way Test with him. Dick Norfolk led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Shirley Napierala gave the Inspirational Message. Mary Beth Doss was our Greeter and welcomed 2 Visiting Rotarians and 1 guest. Joel Doss welcomed them in song, along with a bit of choreographed moves.

President Alan tanked today’s volunteers: Bill Brehm, Photographer and Room set-up; Pat Chaffee, Joel Doss, Mark Roberts, Front Desk; Bill Angus, Newsletter and Sandie Dewane, Scribe.

Bob Vaughn, representing The Rotary (International) Foundation, presented the Sixth Paul Harris Fellow pin to Bill Brehm. Congratulations Bill!
President Alan reported on the progress of the Vista Hill District Grant. To date $8,400 has been raised, which will likely increase as more clubs in our district want to participate.

Cathy Glover announced that the “Summer Olympics” will be taking place this coming Friday (7/15) at the Boys & Girls Club in 4S Ranch. Anyone interested in volunteering, please arrive at 9:00 a.m. Cathy and Don will be there.

Up next was the dashing, debonair and mostly nice guy - Finemaster John O’Neill. After a loud chorus of BOOs, he started by once again, targeting Bill Brehm. Bill was wearing shorts and somehow persuaded the Finemaster to fine those wearing pants instead. Good sport, Resa Coopat, had a fine levied for no reason and graciously paid it. Happy Bucks were given by Dave Brooks, Pat Chaffee, Don Glover, Mike Fuqua, Barb Alberts and Dick Norfolk, because of Don Glover’s colorful shirt. Miraculously, Jim Hyldahl escaped a fine for wearing a glaringly obvious pink shirt.

Charley Crew introduced Jeff Glenn, COO of Neighborhood Healthcare. The organization started 53 years ago and has 900 employees who provide medical, dental and behavioral health services to all ages in San Diego and Riverside Counties. PACE, a program for seniors, offers all-inclusive care for the elderly as a way for seniors to continue to live at home. PACE has three sites in San Diego County – Vista, Oceanside and San Ysidro. Seniors can be transported from their homes to one of the sites to enjoy meals and socialization with others. Great presentation! Cheryl Roop presented a book for Jeff’s signature, which will be donated to the Bernardo Heights Middle School Library.

Our next meeting is on July 21st and is a lunch meeting. The speaker is Rotarian Bill Stumbaugh.
Respectfully submitted,
