Mike Fuqua announced that our only major fundraiser “Vines & Vittles” is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Webb Lake Park.  Thanks to board member Emily Paup, the Lucia Capital Group is returning as Presenting Sponsor!  Bob Vaughn has 3 confirmed wineries to date.    We need volunteers to get food, beer and wine vendors.  Sandie Dewane is coordinating the cash sponsors and will be emailing sponsorship forms to all members.  Anyone interested in helping Sandie as co-coordinator, please contact her.

Family of Rotary:  Sandie reported that Maguy Feghali is recovering from cornea transplant surgery and is home and doing well.

Bob Vaughn and Athenea Luciano collected Happy Bucks and during a break in the musical competition, reverted to fining some members.  It was quick and lively and raised lots of funds!

The highlight of the evening was the Rotary Instruments Music Contest.  We had the pleasure of listening to five outstanding musicians from our local high schools who were competing for cash awards.  Poway Symphony Musical Director John LoPiccolo and Jim Reid served as the contest judges.  Congratulations to the following:

1st Place – Abigail Chong, Flute, RB High (Abigail will advance to Regional Contest on 3/19!)

2nd Place – Nathan Rhee, Clarinet, Westview High (Piano: Hyun, Jyoug Ann)

3rd Place -Emily Silvernail, Euphonium, RB High

Gary Liang, Clarinet, Del Norte High (Joanne Stohs, piano)

President Jim closed the meeting by ringing the bell.
