Rotary meeting minutes for 2/28/19
President Doug opened the meeting by leading us in reciting the traditional Rotary 4-Way Test. He then recognized volunteers Bob Chambers as Greeter, Joel Doss, Gary Saks, and Arilla St. Laurent for manning the check-in desk, plus Susan King for doing double duty by giving both the Pledge and Inspirational Message. Also thanked were club photographer James Kaspar, John O’Neill as Meeting Volunteer Organizer and Scribe, plus setup by the indefatigable Vern Cook.
Finemaster John O’Neill once again congratulated Don Glover for his photo from his induction into the RB Hall of Fame, and then he fined him (again). Charley Crew was taken to task for the loudest antique phone ringer, with the sound no doubt being heard all the way to Escondido.
Dan Barrios congratulated our newest $10,000 Rotary Foundation major donor, James Kaspar. Also honored were Mike and Karen Stelman, who have contributed a whopping $50,000+ to the Foundation? Thank you all for your generosity.
Mike Fuqua announced that there would be an Old Geezers meeting to plan the demotion party for Doug Dawson, after the March 7th meeting. Jim Hyldahl informed all that coming soon there would be another clean up day at Seven Oaks. Don Glover presented a check to our own Tesha Young in support of the Boys and Girls Club in 4S Ranch.
Today’s program featured the beginning of the Four Way Test speech competition, presented by MC Russ Haskell. Our RBHS speakers were Ryan Debish, Andrew Han and Ellen Tinker. The winner of this round was Ellen, who will be moving on to compete against other club winners.
Our speaker next week will be Alexander Tardy, a meteorologist from NOAH.
