Mike Fuqua spoke about the Vines and Vittles Fundraiser in August and asked that all Club members get involved in making this happen. Co-President Athenea said the Club is adopting a new method of registering for the luncheon meeting using Evite. This will help the kitchen at BHCC plan on how many meals will be needed for each meeting. Guests can also be included in the weekly registration. Don Glover said the Club outing to the May 29th Padres baseball game is sold out. Tickets to the Poway Symphony must be ordered individually, either by phone or in person at the box office.
Don Glover announced that two Club members, Mike Fuqua, and Jim Hyldahl, will be inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame in recognition of their volunteer work in the Community.
Cathy Glover announced that next Saturday, Feb. 26th, volunteers will gather to label dictionaries at their home in Oaks North. These will be distributed to local schools. Volunteers will contact schools to establish dates for delivery. Volunteers will need to show proof they are fully vaccinated to go onto school grounds.

Mike Fuqua, along with Barb and Charlie Crew, presented a check of $2,000 to Rachel Piniche from Friends of Vista Hill.

Arilla St Laurent said there was no new news for Family of Rotary. Esteemed Fine Master, John O’Neill, noted that Bill Brehm was being fined for putting a picture of his garden in the newspaper for the garden show. Among those giving Happy Bucks today, Alan Turner gave for the upcoming Fireside Chat for our new members on Feb.18th. Resa Coopat thanked the Club for the $1,000 grant to Spirit of the Fourth, and for Club members who volunteered for that activity. John gave some Happy Bucks for his experience with snow at Lake Arrowhead.

Citing an extensive resume, Mike Stelman presented the speaker for the day, Col. Thomas Bedell of MCAS Miramar. Col. Bedell gave an overview of the base, which has been in San Diego since 1940, and its’ operations, as well as plans to make Miramar a premier USMC location. He says the Marine Corp is designing changes to raise education opportunities and living standards for Corp members, as well as its’ relationship with the Navy. He also showed the physical layout of the 23,000+ acre base site.

After a short question and answer session, Cheryl Roop presented Col. Bedell with the book for his signature to be given to the Rancho Bernardo Middle School.
