Gary Saks introduced Tracy Dixon Salazar, Ph.D. – who spoke about how a mother’s love saved her daughter. Dr. Salazar’s daughter, Savannah, started having severe seizures when she was just two years old. It was later discovered that Savannah had Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a severe epilepsy syndrome that develops in children and leads to lifelong disabilities. Tracy shared the amazing journey she took to educate herself, ultimately earning a Ph.D. in neurobiology, in her quest to identify what causes this disease and how she could alleviate the numerous daily seizures Savannah had to endure. Savannah is now 31. A truly inspirational story that touched our hearts. Dr. Salazar is the Executive Director of the LGS Foundation.
