Minutes from the meeting of August 25th.....

Our President is back from his trip over seas and opened the meeting with the Four Way Test. Lee Proimos led us in the Pledge, Bob Vaughn gave the inspiration speech and Dan Malloy was our greeter. Bill Brehm was our photographer and also set up the meeting room. I was early one week and saw all the things he did to get ready before hand. Thanks for all you do Bill. Joel Doss and Patrick Chaffee worked the front desk and yours truly was the scribe!

Don Glover announced the Poway Parade and the Community Food Connection that we can all volunteer for if you'd like!
Cathy is selling the See's Candy again and warned us that the prices have gone up!

Alex is in a cabin somewhere and was not able to get back in time to be with us today but I imagine he'll be back next week. John O'Neill asked for Happy Bucks and did a little fining along the way.

Charlie Crew introduced our speaker this week. Her name is Elizabeth Yang-Hellewell and she informed us of all she is doing to promote The New Children's Museum. It is a beautiful new building and has 53,000 square feet of show rooms and they also provide classes for the children to attend. Their mission is to spark creativity, exploration and a sense of awareness when it comes to the arts.

The childrens' #1 item to use is glue. They love to work with it! It is a museum for all. 30% of the children are admitted free!
They are encouraged to promote Partners in Creativity, Accessibility to Morning activities and to Discover Mass Creativity!
They are a 501C3 and will be having a Gala at the museum on Nov. 5th. They are promoting it with a community space for "very serious joy"! It is a beautiful place for young and old alike!

Our next meeting will be an evening meeting as it is the first Thursday in Sept. so don't forget! Our speaker this week is going to be Gil Rud, a retired Navy Capt. and former Blue Angel. I know he will be very interesting. See you then!
Yours in Rotary,
Karen Stelman, Scribe
