Rancho Bernardo’s Webb Park will be the home on July 14, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, to “Vines & Vittles” a Western-themed Family Festival.

President Doug convened the meeting leading us in reciting The Rotary Four-Way Test followed by the pledge led by Diane Remick.
The inspiration  message by Patrick Chaffee spoke of choices, fears, and gratitude, being grateful for what you have. Guests were introduced by our greeter Dick Norfolk.
Then Joel Doss, threatening to lead us in "Take me out to the Ball Game" considering our Padres guest speaker, properly led us in the welcome song with vigor and the Baton donated by Jim Reid, our music specialist.
Dan Barrios reminded us that Rotary International funds projects around the world because of member donations.  With that note- a very special moment and honors go to our RB Rotary's dynamic duo, Don and Cathy Glover. Together they have achieved the $10,000 level of the Paul Harris Award.
Always on the job, Don Glover then presented a Foundation Matching Grant to Forever Kids, sponsored by Arilla. St. Laurent, Judy Lutticken. and Maguy Feghali.  Forever Kids purchases suitcases for foster children. This provides a sense of owning a personal possession when they go from home to home. Great idea.
Lynn Ross was recognized for her work that probably represents over 150 volunteer hours with the Miss Rancho Bernardo program and received a check to help underwrite the Scholarship Program.
President Doug  presented "Service Above Self" awards to Dick Norfolk's membership effort; 7 new members-total 71; Joel Doss, weekly handling funds and manning the desk crew for all meetings, and Sandie Dewane, this past quarter's Program Chair.
Arilla, Family of Rotary,  informed us that Jo Casterline will soon be joining us-recovery went well.
Fine Master John O'Neill accepted his "Boos" and Happy Bucks, graciously and doled out some hefty fines,, one particularly large one to Toby Westbrook for reasons not to be publicly identified by me.
Jim Hyldahl, this quarter's Program Chair, introduced Eric Greupner, SD Padres  President of Business Operations. Some of the things we learned : This year celebrates Padre's 50th Anniversary;  USA Today rated the Padre's Ball Park, #1 in the Nation these past 2 years; record attendance for concerts; support for many charities and especially their annual event "Pedal for a Cause" to benefit Cancer Research; will participate in Vines and Vittles; most promising Farm Team in place, and sources of income. Team building is clearly in evidence with outstanding opening team wins compared to past seasons, and record financial investment in team members, i.e. Manny Machado. Eric has been with the Padres nine years.
Calendar: April 6-7 Model UN program at Joan Kroc Institute. April 7, Music Final Competition Finals in Carlsbad City Library. April 12-14, RYLA, April 29-2019 Foundation Gala-La Jolla Hyatt. Upcoming Program: Mike Sweeney, Rotary Club of San Felipe, Mexico.
Meeting adjourned at 1:30.
