Rotary meeting minutes 10/29/15
President Arilla opened the meeting by thanking volunteers Jim Sommer as greeter, Don Glover for an outstanding Opening Inspirational Thought and John O’Neill as scribe. For the meeting set up she thanked Vern Cook and Judy Lutticken, plus Frances Blair and Joel Doss for manning the check-in desk. Also receiving special mention were our excellent club photographer, James Kaspar, club secretary Jeanne Hawkins and newsletter publisher Bill Angus. Special holiday appreciation was given to Mira Bozanich for providing plenty of Halloween candy and festive table decorations,.
Former president Don Glover, who is fast approaching his 75th birthday on Saturday, informed us that he would celebrate this momentous event by making his first (and likely) last skydive. Don invited everyone to join him in witnessing his daring do down in Chula Vista. Don Lisio reminded everyone who is interested in donating to the annual Adopt A Family, that this is the final week to contribute your donations. Dave Brooks invited club members and their spouses to join him at the annual Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation Thanksgiving Luncheon on Tuesday, November 24th. This traditional event will be held at the RB Inn Aragon Ballroom. Tables for at least 20 our guests have been reserved. President Arilla announced that the next TGIX party would be the preparation of our school dictionaries and thesauri. Date TBA.
​Finemaster John O’Neill then continued his relentless assault on the wallets of the members. Many also stepped up to generously offer Happy Bucks. Our speaker turned out to be a no-show, so some of our fellow members graciously filled in the time. Sonny Googins, Joe Max, Jim Hyldahl and Mira shared wonderful presentations and stories that filled the remaining time. Thanks to all.
President Arilla adjourned the meeting and announced that our speaker on November 5th is Kate “The Recruiter” from the San Diego Girl Scouts.
