Rotary meeting minutes for 3/29/18
President Mike Fuqua opened the meeting by leading us in the traditional Rotary values. He then recognized volunteers Patrick Chafee as Greeter, Joel Doss, Doug Dawson and Charley Crew for manning the check-in desk. plus Frances Blair giving the Inspirational Message. Just when we think the flag histories have all been exhausted, Diane Remick gave new and fresh information. Also thanked were club photographer James Kasper, John O’Neill as Scribe and the setup crew of Paul Donick and Judy Lutticken. The Prez actually complemented us on a rare decently sung Rotary welcome song.
President Mike then shared a video about how not treat a new Rotarian. Don Glover announced that 22 members and guests have signed up for the April 28th Padre game. Frances Blair reminded us that the annual Interfaith food drive has begun and donations will be collected at each Rotary meeting. Last year we donated 4,000lbs of food. Our goal this year is 5,000+lbs. Also, be aware that the May 10th  evening and June 7th  noon meetings will be held at Country Club of RB.
Alex Robertson, Assistant District Governor from the Torrey Pines La Jolla club, urged our members to attend the May 4th & 5th District Conference at Knott’s Berry Farm. Tables are being offered at $350 and special lodging is available for $129 per night.
Rotary Foundation Chair, Dan Barrios, presented Rick Bramble a PH recognition pin for reaching $3000 in donations. Thank you for your generosity, Rick!
Finemaster John O’Neill encountered a very generous group with many Happy Buck donations.
Sonny Googins introduced our speaker, Joy Prouse, who shared information on “A call to Action for Rotary Peacebuilders”. She described this fine program and urged us to identify potential candidates for referral to the program.
Our program for the April 5th meeting will be our own John Goodrich. John will be sharing information on the path to District Governor and other Rotary issues.
On April 12th our speaker is, David Vidal. A San Deguito River Conservancy Ranger
President adjourned the meeting with two quotes:

  • There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.    Ronald Reagan
  • The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.    Dwight D. Eisenhower
