Meeting Minutes
March 10, 2016

President Arilla brought the meeting to order and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Gayla Williams, who dressed very patriotically for this task.  New member RZ Norris inspired us by telling us about what Life is……  Our greeter today was past President Dan Malloy and he introduced several guests including his wife Sharon, Barb Crew, Rick and Kathi Carpenter, Joanne Hyldahl, Helen Vaughan and Jess Dawson.  Past president Jim Sommer led us in singing the welcome song, and then he serenaded us with his guitar by singing two songs from the musical The Fantasticks:  “Try to Remember” and “They Were You”.
President Arilla thanked our volunteers:  Joel Doss at check-in, room setup by Judy Litticken, photography by James Kaspar, past-president Bill Angus for doing the newsletter and these words by your humble scribe, past President Dave Brooks.

Past President Mira Bozanich provided the Family of Rotary report.  She said all are well.

Arilla reminded us that the District Training Assembly will take place on March 19th.  New members and officers should attend.  She also told us about the Joint District Conference that will take place in Newport Beach May 13-15.  Let’s get a big group going and we can compete in Hospitality Night.

The next TGIX will be at Joel’s house on April 2nd.  The address is 12551 Camino Vuelo right on the 3rd tee of the North Course.  No need to bring food, just beverages.

Stand-in Finemaster and past-president Ron Hunt extracted a bunch of Happy Bucks.  Several members said they were happy that Cathy Glover got BHCC to change the food at this evening meeting from high calorie hors d'oeuvres to a healthier buffet of fish, chicken and veggies.

Past president Charley Crew introduced our speaker Linda Canada.  She talked about the difficulties of living in San Diego during World War II due to the rapid growth in industries that supported the war effort.

Arilla closed the meeting by telling us that aircraft carriers are named after US presidents, cruisers are named after cities, destroyers are named after heroes and battleships are named after states.
