A BIG thank you was given to all of the members who attended and helped out at the booth for last Saturday’s RB Alive fair. It was noted that Abraxas School will be having an Abraxas Garden Open House this coming Saturday, from 9 to 12. Produce from their garden will be available, as well as a raffle of garden supplies. Our Club was involved in planting trees at Abraxas last spring. It was also mentioned that volunteers are still needed for the Spirit of the 4th parade and fair coming up soon.
President Mike recapped the Governor’s Dinner, which was well attended by our club. Rancho Bernardo Rotary received the Rotary Citation, having met all the criteria for the District. Our Club also placed Third in the District, per capita, for giving to the Rotary Foundation this past year. We also were noted for “Every Rotarian Every Year”, for all club members having contributed at least $100 to the International Rotary Foundation.

Our own Don Glover received the “People of Action” award, for his many contributions to our club and district activities. Don received a well deserved standing ovation from Club members.

Dan Barrios said that 100% of our Club members contributed to the Club Foundation this year and thanked us for our generosity. He also announced that he will served and our Foundation Chair again next year. Dan Recognized Paul Harris donors, and the Major Donors to Paul Harris.
We welcomed back our Fine Master, John O’Neill, who put some new spins on fines for the kitty. Happy Bucks were plentiful.

Jim Sommers introduced our speaker and special guest, Aswini Kar, a Rotarian and past club President from India. He is actively involved in many peripheral Rotary projects, and innovator of several new projects associated with his Rotary experiences. He spoke of promoting Rotarian “Fellowships”, not directly associated with Rotary Clubs, but creating fellowship and “Action Groups” among worldwide Rotary members. Themes for these groups to share common interests include Yoga and Meditation, travel, exchange with sister clubs, as well as promoting the general purposes of Rotary.
