Meeting Minutes
June 22, 2017
President Benita brought HER LAST meeting to order and past-President Charley Crew lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our inspirational thought came from past-President Bob Vaughn who told us a story about 2 men.
Rick Bramble presided over introducing our guests April Mitchell and Deborah Goodrich then we sang them our welcome song led by past-President Jim Sommer. Jim then got out his guitar and led us in another song to say good bye to Benita.
Benita thanked our volunteers: room setup by Judy Lutticken and past-President Paul Donick; check-in by Joel Doss and past-President Karen Stelman; photography by James Kaspar and these words by your humble scribe, past-President Dave Brooks.
We had several announcements. Frances told us this is the last day for the Stand Down underwear drive. The Governor’s Dinner will be held on June 26th and President-elect Mike will be sworn in; 17 of us are going. Your scribe asked for help at Spirit of the Fourth and Karen showed a great video of the Healing Field event we organized in 2008 on the one year anniversary of the Witch Fire. There will be an organization meeting to plan a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of this fire on June 28th at 6:30pm at RB Community Presbyterian Church.
President Benita gave a 4 Way Test coin to Jim Sommer for his work as Q4 Speaker Chair (and balladeer extraordinaire!). Jim then introduced Larry Saunders who has worked with computers for over 50 years. Larry showered us with tips and warnings about how to work safely with our computers, email and the internet.
President Benita closed the meeting with this quote: “Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day, teach that person to use the internet and they won’t bother you for weeks.”
Thanks Benita for a great year!
