***Stoneridge Country Club is the location for our meetings through March of 2017 (or until BHCC is reopened). Stoneridge will have a courtesy golf cart shuttle to pick you up in the parking lot if you prefer that to walking.***

Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club
Minutes - January 19, 2017
The meeting was called to order by President Benita at 12:30.
The Pledge was led by Troy Daum.
The Inspirational Message was given by Toby Westbrook
Greeter Jon Harris coordinated the introduction of the guests.
The Welcome song was led by Jim Sommer, followed by the Happy Birthday song for Benita, with cake and flowers.
The Volunteers were: Scribe - Kathleen Smith
Front Desk - Joel Doss and Judy Lutticken
Set Up Crew - Judy Lutticken
Photographer - James Kaspar
Announcements: Mira will host a Valentine TGIX on Friday, 2/17 at 5:30. She needs sides and salads. Please RSVP to her.
Arilla called for a Demotion Committee meeting today.
The District Training Assembly is March 18.
Suzie Lisio was made an Honorary Member.
Look for an email with a survey concerning meeting time preferences.
Branches is the new florist that is donating flowers...please patronize at the winery.
Family of Rotary - Jim Edwards' Celebration of Life will be at the Rancho Bernardo Inn on 1/24 from 3-6. Please RSVP to Karen.
Service Above Self recognition was given to Vern Cook, Mira and Karen Stelman for great programs during the 1st and 2nd quarters and to Shirley Napierala for success with the Adopt a Family and shirt sales.
Foundation checks were presented to Abraxas High School - Robert Lutticken and Include Autism - Sophia Davis by Gary Saks.
Don encouraged everyone to get involved in the upcoming District Governors' meeting.
Dave Brooks announced that after 7 years, his house was now in escrow!! Go Dave!
The Program was introduced by Bob Vaughn, and Shawn Carlson, PhD spoke about the Science Literacy Crisis and his program to solve the problem.
Upcoming Programs: January 26 - FAA Southern California, and February 2 - Wendy Patrick from the DA's Office.
