Our December 10th meeting was our monthly evening meeting.  Last year at this time, we were celebrating the 50th Anniversary of our club at Maderas Country Club!   Before Don Glover led us in the pledge, he gave us a brief history of our flag and what it stood for.  Arilla gave the Inspirational Thought and then introduced the voluteers for the evening.  It was nice to have John and Jeanne Hawkins with us as John always entertains us with his wonderful piano playing and Jeanne is up front, back up the check in desk among her other duties.

Arilla then had the honor of inducting Jo Casterline into our Rotary family as an honorary member.  Her husband passed away recently and he was such a big part of our club that we wanted to carry on his tradition by having his lovely wife join us.  Pat Bonner was also in attendance and she was made an honorary member a couple of months ago, representing her husband Bill.  Both Paul and Bill are still missed.

Bernardo Heights served a delicious dinner, as always, followed by a wonderful dessert from Casa de las Campanas.  Benita Page was in charge of this years holiday party and she did a wonderful job.  Many thanks to her for a memorable evening.

Member Sonny Googins introduced our speaker Bob Googins with a similar name.  Seems they are married!  Bob "performed" (verbalized) a few scenes from the heartwarming classic Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol.  Since his rendition was cut short due to our club's time constraints, he generously gave out CD's to everyone in the room so we could enjoy this beautiful rendition in front of our own fire places!

Jim Hyldahl was once again our "hero" as he managed to segway  the title of a book to fit our speakers presentation!  May he never give up this job!!

Arilla closed our meeting wishing us all a Happy Holiday Season, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Sincerest wishes for a wonderful holiday season and New Year,
Karen Stelman, Scribe
