This 2020-21 Rotary year, we are able to provide almost $60,000 to various organizations in the form of matching gifts and grants.

Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club Foundation Announces Annual Matching Gifts and Grants
 
November 2, 2020—The Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club (RBRC) Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the annual matching gifts and grants program.  Since its establishment in 1968, the RBRC Foundation, a 501c (3) organization, has endeavored to provide funds for charitable, cultural, scientific, civic, health, and/or educational purposes, primarily for the local community. 
 
This 2020-21 Rotary year, we are able to provide almost $60,000 to various organizations in the form of matching gifts and grants. 
 
Matching gifts this year are going to:
 
  • Abraxas High School Foundation
  • Friends of Vista Hill
  • Gently Hugged
  • Interfaith Community Services
  • Rancho Bernardo High School Madrigals
  • The PKD Foundation
  • Poway Symphony Orchestra Foundation
  • San Diego Youth Services
  • St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center
  • Tender Loving Canines Service Dogs
 
RB Rotarians contributed $12,500 towards these gifts with the Foundation matching at $10,250 for a total of $22,750. 
 
The Foundation has also funded almost $7,000 for a grant to the Poway Unified School District Foundation to fund the purchase of WiFi hot spots for homeless children in need in the district. 
 
Recognizing an emergency need, we had also previously provided a $3,200 grant that was allocated to help the people devastated by explosions in Beirut, Lebanon. 
 
To support “End Polio Now”, Rotary International’s signature service project, our club and Foundation provided almost $5,000 which will be augmented at 2 to 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. 
 
This year’s outright grants totaled over $10,000 and were awarded to:
 
  • Abraxas High School Foundation
  • Alzheimer’s of San Diego
  • The Assistance League
  • The Boys & Girls Club (4S Ranch location)
  • Interfaith Community Services
  • Navy-Marine Corps PROUD Foundation
  • Poway On Stage
  • PUSD Adopt-a-Family program
  •  Ronald McDonald House at Rady Children’s Hospital 
 
 
To support RB Rotary club programs, we funded:
  • $2,600 to support attendance at Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) camp by local high school students
  • $14,000 to our annual scholarship fund for seniors at Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte High Schools.
