Rainy days and Thursdays never get us down!
Rainy days and Thursdays never get us down! That's because we always have a great Rancho Bernardo Rotary meeting to look forward to. Last Thursday was once again a great gathering of friends to share fellowship, a great lunch, be inspired by service and hear an interesting and memorable speaker. We were reminded of the upcoming charity fashion show benefitting one of our favority organizations, Vista Hill. Visitors from Escondido Rotary gave us the opportunity to purchase a beautiful spring flower bouquet to benefit one of their projects. The Poway Symphony is one of those hidden gems that many have come to treasure so we were given info on their next concert. Representatives from an organization sponsored by Jewish Community Center that gives rides to Seniors and from the San Diego Ballet stopped by to give us an update and seek support. We were thrilled and proud to hear that our own Bob Barr reached the level of Major Donor ($10,000) to the Rotary Foundation. Terry Heck was 'happy' to report the status of his new Granchild (his first) and Jon Harris reminded us of his interview of Don Glover and President Doug on his radio show on KCBQ on Saturday. And Mike Stelman offered sincere thanks to all who helped make the recent District Conference (he was in charge!) a grand success. Whew! As if that wasn't enough, our speaker was superb. Alex Tardy from NOAA spoke on the very relevant subject of the latest rain in relation to the drought and had a ton of facts and figures to get us all up to speed on weather. As usual, it was a jam-packed meeting that all enjoyed. The hour and a half zoomed by. Join us on any Thursday for fun, service information, a great lunch, fellowship, and informative speakers.
