Our meeting this week featured the annual visit by Rotary District 5340 District Governor, Mel Gallegos ...
The visit by the District Governor is always an opportunity to showcase our club and members and this week was no different.
We had a report on our recent community cleanup at Seven Oaks Senior Community and it was a rousing success.

One of our top goals is to bring new members into our group.
This week we were happy to welcome Dr. Greg Bohart as a new member. Greg was a Rotarian 20+ years ago before his career as an orthopedic surgeon got in the way. Now that he is retired Greg is looking forward to becoming an active member of the club and putting "service above self".
Another milestone achieved this week was to present a gold badge to Alan Turner, who has fulfilled all the requirements to learn to be a Rotarian. Alan gave a very interesting "Who Am I" speech that detailed what he has done in life and what he is interested in becoming involved in to "be the inspiration".
Contributing to The Rotary Foundation is a fundamental part of being a Rotarian and this week we acknowledged 4 members achieving the next level in the Paul Harris Society which recognizes a $1000 contribution over the course of the year. Our past District Governor Scott Carr attended to the meeting to not only present the PHS pins, but also presented to our club a prestigious award that recognizes our members for contributing to The Rotary Foundation last year. Every member contributed and the average was over $100 per member. A fantastic accomplishment.
It was also the 4th Thursday of the month so we were able to acknowledge and celebrate October birthdays with a scrumptious cake provided by Shirley Napierala.
Perhaps the brightest note of the meeting was the return after 8 weeks and back surgery of our beloved finemaster John O'Neill. John is a strong and valued member of the club and we have missed him!
And after all that DG Mel provided us with his inspiring vision for his year. Mel also brought a humorous video advertisement for the District Conference coming up on Mar 1-3, 2019. All in all, another jam-packed, well attended meeting that reminded us why we are members...fellowship and service above self!
